Early Years Teaching Assistant (Learning Assistant)
Silicon Valley International School is seeking a qualified Preschool Teaching Assistant (Learning Assistant) to join the Early Years Program for the academic year 2025-26. 
As a Learning Assistant at INTL, you will work closely with our international group of teachers to support early years students.  Your primary responsibility is to the safety and social-emotional well-being of our students. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package, competitive pay commensurate with years of experience, and generous paid time off.
The Learning Assistant works within the framework of the job description and assignment and makes decisions only within that framework.
Learning Assistants are required to maintain certifications as required by the school and/or Social Services and keep all relevant certifications current. 
This is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt role that comes with full benefits. You will report to the Director of Licensing and Enrichment Support. The hourly rate of pay is $30.07 (CO-1) to $40.52 (CO-23), depending on your relevant work experience and educational attainment. Additionally, the school offers an academic attainment bonus — $1,000 for a Bachelor’s Degree and $2,000 for a Master’s Degree — added to your regular hourly rate.
 
Learning Assistants are expected to:
- Follow Social Services requirements and stay with the students at all times.
 - Demonstrate ethical behavior, responsible behavior towards attendance and work schedule
 - Be knowledgeable of and follow School policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with confidentiality, cross-cultural understanding, discipline, harassment and communication, health and safety, or Licensing Regulations.
 - As noted in the schedule, actively supervise lunch, recess, and the extended day program. Active, visual supervision is expected at all times.
 - Promote an atmosphere of respect for students and adults
 - Work to support the philosophy of the school
 - Assist in attendance, record keeping, students’ work filing, classroom clean up and decoration, and snack preparation.
 - Assist in the implementation of classroom management
 - Support and promote goals for the class community, as well as the goals for the social and emotional development of the children
 - Lead some small group activities as instructed by the teacher/ Enrichment Support Director
 - Meet weekly with the teacher to get information on upcoming activities and preparation needed
 - Assist in preparing the learning environment, setting up activity centers, and preparing needed material and supplies in advance, as instructed by the teacher/Licensing & Enrichment Director
 
During the academic year, learning assistants are not expected to:
- Plan and initiate learning activities; for example, develop specific lesson plans, select learning materials
 - Report to parents on pedagogical matters or student academic performances
 
Year-Round Work Schedule
Year-round, including designated faculty breaks and summer months for Mini/Summer Camp assignments.
As this position is considered that of an academic year-round employee, Learning Assistants are required to work six (6) out of nine (9) weeks of either mini or summer camp each academic year. In the context of summer care and mini-camp, a Learning Assistant will function as a camp counselor. Their responsibilities include planning and implementing activities under the guidance of the Director of Licensing & Enrichment Programs.
The Director will provide a camp theme and assist in the organizing process. Camp counselors may utilize the week before the mini-camp for planning and prep. Additionally, the summer care schedule will allocate time for weekly planning and preparation.

 - Ability to hear within normal range and communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner that can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population
 - Ability to move quickly to address emergency or potentially dangerous situations
 - Ability to move about the building and the organization as needed
 - Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions
 - On occasion, must lift up to 35 lbs
 
Qualifications:
- 12 Early Childhood Education Units minimum preferred
 - Minimum 2 years of experience working with Early Years aged children
 - Candidates who speak French or Mandarin are especially encouraged to apply (not a requirement)
 - Experience with the Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) preferred
 
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly range is $30.07 to $40.53 per hour.
